I finally got my first silver ender in a half dollar roll. I've been lucky with finally getting my CRH hands on these things and it looks to have paid off. It's a dirty old 1967.

It was a Brinks Box!

Thought I'd share.

Not being a "half" CHR, but only dimes, how is it that you guys can pick out a 40%/90% coin out of the clear blue as an ender roll just by looking at 50 ends at one time? I guess I've never come across a silver ender in my dime boxes as yet. What is it to look for ?

The tone of the coin will tell you it's silver

This is right. The silver ones are sort of whitish/bluish and look rather different. I'm mostly a dimes hunter as well!

Now that I have been CRH for several months, I can pick out a silver coin even from a distance like when the teller is counting them. I've also noticed how proofs stand out very easily.

Occaissionally a clad coin will have a similar patina as the silver and it is really disappointing after you check the date or edge. The dirtier silver coins tend to have a yellowish or green hue to them. A clean silver looks whiter than the clad ones which are more chrome-like.

Happy hunting.
