Buckle ID Anyone?

I dug this buckle on a site that is shown on a 1912 topo map. Most my finds from this site are around the 1920's. This looks to older than the 1920's so I'm curious as to just how old it may be. Lots of square nails on the site as well. Also, what kind of buckle is this?

Alrighty. I've researched this buckle a bit more (actually found a buckle book). It could be an undergarment buckle. Like a corset or maternity/support wear type thing. Since it's not decorative or anything like that, it seems like the buckle is not meant to be seen. Kinds neat. Makes me wonder if there was some hanky-panky going on oustside the old cellar hole 100 years ago. Probably just broke and was tossed out, but makes wonder how it got there, who wore it, how long did they live there, etc...

Indeed it does look similar. Thanks for the link. That just may go with the 1867 sheild nickle I found on the same site. Cool beans!
