Buffalo (American Bison) skull (hatband concho) plus some odds n ends.

CoinandRelicMan · Jun 5, 2013

On digging this rusty clod of dirt out of the sugar sand I was going, "Ugh its some trash!" Tapped on the rusty clod with my Lesche a bit and a shape emerged :happy2:

then I was going, "Yay its not trash!" Then the quest for ID started. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/357991-cattle-head-what-tho.html
Thanks to the T-net guys who helped out I was able to post this with a name that fits :icon_thumright:

Nice finds CoinandRelicMan.

Nice find. You may want to soak it for a few days in apple cider vinegar and the rust may brush off nicely.

I am liking the rusty red coloring , would varnish or shellac be good for preserving its current coloration?

Hi cooper1841 thanks :headbang:

what were your conchos found made from? Mine appears to be stamped steel perhaps.

This is a before/after ACV soak so you can see the potential results:

Congrats on your bison concho! :icon_thumright:

I like him just as he is -- shaggy! Especially like his look after I enlarged the pic. The real buffalo I've seen up close have all been shaggy -- some even gave me the hairy eyeball of suspiscion, lol. HAVE FUN! Andi

Not really sure, non magnetic though, not the pic on left. Cant find other pic, but it was like a round medallion, silver, about the size of a silver dollar
