Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I went out mucking and detecting today on the bank's of the bayou. It was a bad idea with Houston having rain for days. I didn't find anything of interest but trying to leave my car got stuck in the mud. I went searching for boards to put under my tires and found this token from the Iron Front Saloon in Austin. Does anyone know how to clean it up without damaging it further?

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Nice token find. I use lemon juice soak and a brass brush on mine. Not sure what it is made of so go slow. Soak a short time and then brush. Repeat until you get it where you want it.

Welcome TKS and nice find!

Be cautious here and ID the metal first. If it's light weight assume it's aluminum. No brass or steel brushes no harsh acids
but try a little hydrogen peroxide and a toothbrush first. Or baking soda and a toothbrush. What you've done is what the
English call "Mudlarking" get out there on the riverbank rake up some mud and see what's in it? Your cleaning process
should be metal specific! Relax and don't hurry.

Best wishes!

Nice find, congrats on the save

Whoa! Good find - but, you had to get stuck to find it...?

Thank you so much! I work in the oil & gas field so I'm going to take it to work and hit it with the PMI gun.

Tokens are always a nice find. Hope it cleans up for you.

Congrats good stuff
