Bugs !!!

I have been on two hunts in Georgetown off the Sampit River at old plantation sites.
Found some square nails and bottles and are anxious to go back. The problem is the Bugs.
I use an over abundance of bug spray and tuck my pants into my socks. No bug bites that I can feel or see. Two days later my feet and legs are covered with bites that itch so much I can't stand it. Does anyone know what the bugs are? And how I might protect myself.

Chiggers more then likely. Try putting heat powder on your legs and feet before you go next time, works like a charm when I am out fishing or camping in the woods.

chiggers would be correct, I tape my pants leg to my boots with masking tape and spray pants leg and boots with OFF. that seems to help a lot. The chiggers that are already on you keep them covered with calamine lotion. They will dry up in a few days. Hope this helps. swingin

chiggers aka red bugs put a drop of clear finger nail polish on each bite and in no time they are gone..

I understand this is an old thread....Permetherin will solve your chigger problems. Just google this term and chiggers.
Has solved my problems.
