Where was this found? I don't think anyone could tell if this was Confederate or Union, since they both used a lot of the same firearms

looks like a civil war .58 cal three ringer used by both sides

58 caliber Minie ball. Keep detecting that area. Bond to be a lot more civil war relics. The bullet you found is dropped. Soldiers would remove the bullet and throw it away so they could use the powder to help light camp fires. You may also find camp lead which is a bullet that melted in the fire.
