Bullet Identification.. Older Patina.. Historical Area

Need help with this one.. Unfortunately I don't have a ruler on hand so will update the pictures when I can find one.. apologies. I downloaded a ruler app on my phone and measured though.. The length ended up being roughly 14 mm and the width roughly 9mm across.
I understand bullet sizes need to be pretty precise so I apologize if its not enough info...

Its a pistol bullet but I couldnt say how old. the US Army used .45s back in the day.

Yeah maybe its for an old army .45 revolver... Would be cool, it doesn't look any modern bullets which is mostly what I find.. Thanks Old Pueblo

Possibly for a Colt - but before the .45 Cartridge.

Looks like it might be for a .44 Colt percussion revolver. Rebated base so it can be started in the cylinder easier when loading.

Honestly it looks just like the .44 Watervliet... So I want to go with that! Thanks everyone! It does how however look just ever so slighty less pointy... Both sides during the civil war operated down in Arizona in this area... There were actually many skirmishes with confederate troops and the Apache... Or so I have read.

However, this could be a possibility that the top looks slightly broken/ chipped off...

Looks like a dropped bullet for the 1860 Colt or an 1858 Remington revolver. First picture is Colt, second Remington.

Definitely a lot of Apache warfare in this area, but I doubt its from the Confederates. It could be Civil War era, but in any event its probably from the Indians Wars that were going on down here at the same time as the Civil War. There were only 4 skirmishes in Arizona involving Confederates, that I can think of. Stanwix Station, Dragoon Springs, Picacho Peak, and a little known fight way out on the Colorado River between US troops and a Confederate sympathizer, and these were all just little battles, more like Wild West gunfights than the real Civil War battles going on further to the East. Stanwix took place way out west from here, Picacho just north of Tucson, Dragoon Springs in the Dragoon Mountains near Tombstone.

There were a lot of pistols that went west of Civil War type and issue but in civilian hands.

Just like when I was a kid WWII era surplus rifles were taking deer and bear all around the US.

Looks exactly like the .36 Colt bullets that I have found in my area. Paper cartridge bullet in .36 cal is my guess; You did say it looked to be about the size of a 9mm. Could be a .44 cal; it's hard to be sure with just a picture CannonBallGuy is the Expert though.

TheCannonballGuy agrees with ArtDirtSlinger... measuring at 9 millimeters, it is definitely an unfired civil war era .36-caliber bullet for a Colt Revolver or other percussion .36 revolver of that era.

Just Surfing , & came across this , TCBG & Others Nailed it , my "Watervliet Arsenal" 36 & 44 cal's have an "X" -ing Crisscross pattern on the 'Skirt' or Bottom section of the Bullet. Think Colts are Smooth.

Also ..It's just patina Chipping on the Nose.

I try to prevent that but that is just me.
