Well no really bayonets just bayonet tips. This is a nice little spot I have been hunting on and off for about 6 months now. It has produced both CS and US relics as it is on a hill top and was heavily contested as a artillery position during a major retreat.
This was the first time in a while I have been able to really put the coil to the ground. This is about 3 and a half hours worth this afternoon. A couple of interesting things. All the big .69s seem to be smashed in the exact fashion. Any one have any ideas on this? In the pick there is a lead poker chip so maybe the boys where just hanging out gambling or playing checkers. So far I think I have dug 10 or 12 like this. I dont know. Also does anyone know the difference between the bayonets tips US or CS or just different makes?

Thanks for looking

very cool relics

Nice saves man!

If it was an artillery position, your minnies could possibly have been drops that were run over by cannon wheels or caissons (artillery wagons). Just a guess, I'm not sure what kind of weight it would take to squash one like that.

Congratulation!

Some great relics!

Awesome relics, always cool to pull civil war relics out of the ground!

Very cool finds....HH

Awesome finds , I have several bullets ive found in the same condition , personally I think they were in the process of flatting them to melt down to remold .
