Bungee Hook End?

Found this out camping last weekend. My only guess is an older bungee hook end. Anyone have a different opinion? Thanks!

Based upon the shape I would agree but I am a bit hesitant because of the square wire as that would tend to leave marks more easily than round wire. I've been riding bikes for nearly 40 years and have had my share of bungies. As best I recall they were always made of round wire. Are there any discernible wear marks that may provide a clue?

reminds me of some thing off of a old stater, It does appear to be more electrical related again..

ive seen them on the train tracks dont know if it is electrical or train related or neither

Is it brass? I thought it was galv steel.
