I see versions of this story rather frequently. Doubloons, double eagles, diamonds, etc. This particular story is similar to most with one glaring exception. Yaquina is in Oregon. It is now called Newport. Toledo, mentioned later in this clipping, is inland about a dozen miles, near where the Yaquina River becomes Yaquina Bay.
