Just the story of the Counterfeiters.

About 2 miles South East of a place known as the
"OLD STONE TAVERN" on rt. #8
had a hideout.

they were also horse thieves.

this was in the 1840's

and they used to hide in the woods near the Tavern
& Rob the Patrons.

Supposedly There are Caches buried around
the area of their Hideout.

Look for Natural, Obvious Land Marks
that could be used to hide things near.

The old stone tavern still exists, I believe along Rte.8 in the fork in the road, which I don't recall what the other road is.

It's been several years since I drove past it but it does have an historical marker along the road.

BUT....south of it, as I was driving towards it, were.."danger, Blasting" signs posted along the right hand side of the road as I was driving north.

Must be some type of mining operations there, or at least there was years ago.

If the mining operation is closed, which may well be after the years have past, it would make perfect sense for crooks to have stashed loot in the area. I do remember it looked pretty rocky along the route.
