Button? 13 Star, Threaded Rear Post.

I pulled this up at a sidewalk demo I’ve been working. It has 13 stars and to me what looks like a dragon or something similar may be an anchor. The reverse is traded. I found that green Indian Head Penny and 1953 wheat and a few other interesting finds. I can’t see the date on the IHP so for now it’s soaking in vegetable oil.

I pulled this up at a sidewalk demo I’ve been working. It has 13 stars and to me what looks like a dragon or something similar may be an anchor.

Could it be an eagle, rather than a dragon? I did some teaking of the image in Photoshop, and to me it looks one of the representations of an eagle with a snake in its mouth. I haven't had much luck attaching images to posts (they just never show up), but if this works you should see the tweaked, 30K image below:

The design appears to be that of a U.S. Marine Corps button.
Since it has a screw post instead of a shank, it's probably a cap/hat button.

Michelle, I think the threaded shank is too small to be a hand saw medallion.

MaddenMonster, I though the exact same thing you did but it appears PBK hit it on the head again.
