The wealth of knowledge and resources here at Treasurenet never ceases to amaze me so I don't hesitate in asking for some help on this little piece of crushed button. ( Or IS it a button, what is that little bit of metal poking out?)On the top it has Registered and on the bottom it has Trade Mark( two words) somewhere in the middle is either 1 9 T and a Z underneath that. Any ideas?

Perhaps a zipper pull? What does the reverse look like? And what size?

Reverse is toasted,no details at all.its about the size of an eagle uniform button. I'm pretty sure this is Civil War era as I have found flat buttons and eagle buttons that have the same patina.

No idea, but it sure is nice looking.

A friend in Virginia thinks this could be a CW "goods tag." Shoes, etc.had metal tags attached to them as opposed to paper tags. The little bit of metal on the side makes me think that is possible.
