button from santa fe trail

Just wanted to know if someone might help me identify this button.
dug on Santa Fe trail about a foot deep, found with several other items from the 1800's

At first I thought curtin weight, but the second picture makes it a two piece button... with no markings I don't know.

But someone may be able to help... good luck!
