Button help please

I was in a hunt at a boy scout camp and found this button on a cliff point about 100 ft anove a river.

What time frame were buttons attached with a cotter pin? The button' s eagle doesn't look like any service button I've seen and suspect it's more modern. Any ideas?

Can't make out any backmark.

Can you put a coin in the picture or something to give us a size reference? And, an in focus picture of the back would help as well. My old eyes are having trouble making it out.

Don't think it's a button. Might be a key chain or a watch FOB...

Looks like a modern button with a steel split-pin through the loop.
