not to knowledgable with buttons. I have Alphaeus H Alberts book on uniform and historical buttons so there really not much in there on plain flat buttons so anyway found this button today and have no idea about dating it. For all i know it may be fairly new. But i did find it along where CW troops crossed a creek. I have found several CW artifacts there but trying to figure out if this button was period or not. Thanks

I think that button is closer to the Revolutionary war period going by the turret shank.
