Button Help

I saw these posted on another site but the OP doesn't know where they came from. I thought maybe Culver Academy but couldn't find a match. I also looked in Albert's book under schools but couldn't find it there either. Any ideas?

Don't know what CA is but those appear to be Civil War Sharpshooter rifles with telescopic sights. Gary

They're very clean and the back loop attachment looks to be 'modern looking' to me?
Makes me wonder why there's no back mark as well.

Is it possible they're reenactment buttons/reproductions?

Yes, they look 20th century. Using an old style musket in a logo is common.

Actually, upon closer inspection, you'll see that those are not "old style muskets"... they are a bolt-action rifle, and most probably represent the US Army's Springfield 1903 Rifle. The Army used '03 Springfields as the crossed rifles in its Infantry insignia from 1905 to 1923. So I suspect this button is from that time period, and is an (unidentified) Military School button.

Although the rifles do have what looks like a very long telescopic sight, enlargement of the photo shows the rifles have no external hammer, thus excluding them from being civil war era muskets. Also, the rifle's mid-stock has a long flute for hand-gripping, which you see on the 1903 Springfield.

I think they are fairly modern and maybe from a military school, C....... Academy maybe?

To me a bolt action Springfield ca 1903 does quality as an old style musket. I need new glasses I suppose

I did not see it in Albert's button book.
