Button ID help E and S with symbol...

Hi all

This button was found near an old railroad track (18-1940's) that is now a walking trail, any idea?

I don't think it's a button..it looks like a discarded engine freeze plug.

Interesting that it may have been the same item as a bunch of varieties of “e buttons” that I don’t think have positively identified. Here is one the ones I mean, with a links to other ones: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/392613-button-e-f-inscription-center.html
Having the additional letter on it makes it more solvable, and hopefully solves the whole lot of them.

I've never seen a "concave" freeze plug, they are usually flat with a 90° lip on them, and I have not seen them labeled before

Also, freeze plugs are pressed in, what would the mark in the center be for? I thought maybe a shank for a button was there in its younger years
