Haven't had a very good weekend detecting, so I just started going thru my treasure collection and found this button...
I don't even remember where I got it,(probably a grab bag from a collector show or something), but it's obviously not a dug up find...
Anyway the backmark is Smith & Wright Ltd. , B' Ham... And the obverse is an anchor with a serpent wrapped around it, and possibly a crown on top... The only word I can make out is artillery... Thanks

Found these British backmarks... other variations??

Smith, Kemp & Wright Ltd. Brearley St., Birmingham... Yours being Smith & Wright Ltd. , B' Ham.

#1 Smith & Wright, Brearly St. Birmingham 19. (in 1946).

#2 Smith, Kemp & Wright Ltd. Birmingham. founded in 1840s. they made Other Ranks brass buttons of the pre-1871 patterns. They became part of Firmin & Sons in the early 20th century.

Still looking for YOUR button specifically.

Good job! Yeap... I agree, I did notice on your button though that the left "bomb" looks like it is inverse, or... um, embossed? Weird. Anyway I think you have it!
