I was digging out an 1800s bottle dump i found with my detector and found this button, on back it says Scovill Mfg. Co.Waterbury Conn. The back of the button is the same size as a quarter very solid button.This button reminds me of a mushroom.

Was there anying more modern than 1800's? That backmark should be post 1900, into at least the 1950's The button could have come off of anything but is probably civilian

I don't have a link to that backmark but have seen it on buttons from the early to mid1900's never anything earlier. When I've seen that backmark it is on uniform buttons like police, fire dept and transportation buttons.
