Found on a property dating back to the early 1800's.
Not sure the first word on the back is Will. The ll is legible but the wi isn't clear..

The backmark says "W.H. Jones & Co. Superfine." According to the McGuinn-&-Bazelon book on button backmark dates, your "Golden Age" civilian "Fashion" button was made between 1835 and 1840.

For anybody who isn't already familiar with that excellent book, its title is "American Military Button Makers And Dealers; Their Backmarks & Dates." It is available for $25-to-$35 at various civil war relic dealer websites. It is a must-have for every button digger (or collector) here in the USA.
