Is there anyway to identify this button based on the markings on the back? I suspect it is from the early 1800's. I don't think there was ever anything on the front but I can't be sure. Geographically the button was found in Nova Scotia Canada. Thanks for looking!

Your guess is right on target! One-piece, plain-face buttons of this type with a simple wreath backmark were in use around 1795-1815. Many were made of copper or copper alloy, gilt, and of British manufacture.
