Button Missing the Eagle?

No luck researching this on-line... can anyone tell me if this button originally had an eagle attached to it? Maybe it was something else, like a cross. Were there any two piece buttons? There is no back to it at all... Thanks for any assistance.

CRIPES!! I can solve this myself! For the first time, upon looking at the original picture again that I took last night I can see the outline (not so clear to me looking at the actual button face) of a eagle! HA!!! Anyone out there have a picture of a two piece eagle button??

Amazing what a little sleep can do for a guy!

Albert's button book lists the following: "GI 92 Infantry...The spread eagle device is cut out and riveted to the button."

When you found this or any other time you find something of this quality ....do you ALWAYS RECHECK YOUR DIG? Sometimes people will get so excited about a find and they wont check the dig again making sure that YOU GOT ALL OF IT....there may be a chance that eagle is still around that dig!

I ALWAYS recheck the area, and the dig... I've found many more items this way! Too bad I got nothing that time!
