Hi,

Here's a hunters button from Berlin/Germany.26mm in diameter, made of brass. It's showing a 'dachshund',in Germany called 'Dackel',a traditionel hunting dog.I think the button belonged to a overcoat and was produced between 1870 and 1900.
Many different items existed;showing wild-boars,stags,rabbits and others.

Greetings,Sven

I think that is some type of a Sportsman button, but it could have something to do with the several Militia platoons that called themselves "HOUNDS",??? :dontknow:

Can you tell if the button has a backmark. They made sportsmans buttons like that as early as the 1830's maybe earlier. we dig them in civil war camps and old house sites.
