I only had a minute to look at your pics but looks like a British victorian crown. By the button design maybe mid 1800's. Cool find! [emoji106][emoji2]

Thankyou so much for your quick reply I'm happy with that xxx

Nice old one piece button. She's an old one and I'd agree on 1850's or older.:icon_thumright:

Back those dates up just a tad. That button has a seam and no benchmark so it could easily dip into the 18th century. Nice digs - Tnet members like Iron Patch could probably ID that in about a minute.

Its circa 1815 Officers British Militia Button. Without any letters showing below the Crown it will be a hard ID to pin down.

I'll buy him a pint if he does.

Thankyou so much I'm amazed how fast response is here such a great sight xxx

Those militia buttons are a whole different ball of wax, and like Cru says without the letters it's quite challenging. Heck I can't even figure my own out from yesterday, and I sort of have the letters!

Hi Zacman. Nice find. I see you're from Newton Abbot. Very familiar with the area - my dad grew up in Torquay, grandparents lived in Paignton, aunt owned a place in Totnes, etc. Devon's a beautiful place.

Another tough one, but with much greater odds of an ID.
You have a circa 1780 type Crown, the '2' for the 2nd under the Royal ?? Not sure if the letters are F's, I's or J's :icon_scratch:

Know the first letter is R, and the last letter I'm quite sure is a B. Ironhorse found the same button in 2015 and it slows the outline slightly better, but also the 2 is most likely for 2nd Battalion so it fits. So I believe it's just a matter of what the middle letter is. If it's a G I have a pretty good idea what it is... if an F or anything else, I don't. There's a little better pic of the letters on my today's finds post.

However old it is, its a very nice button.

Most of the silvered ones are about 1780 to about 1820. Probably War of 1812 period.

It is indeed I'm living in Torquay now great part of the country x x z
