The only reference I have says could be as early as 1902, but could also be significantly later. Someone way more knowledgeable on this than me should be along any time now. Good luck.

It was made by a company that was in operation from around 1900 to 1930 so that would mean your button predates WWII.

Two different backmarks that they used.
