I found this on the beach and haven't seen another one before. It's very small and I think it's made out of copper. The back looks like it may have been a button. Any help would be appreciated.

Found in Massachusetts at a site that has pulled targets from late 1600s to present day.

Acro window numbering tack I’d say, due to its size. They were made of white brass.

Nice ID Benz, what were they used for, numbering windows prior to installation?

Thank you! That does seem to be what it probably is. I read that they're used to mark old wooden screens and storm windows for easy removal and replacement
