I found these two buttons today in a field at a former 19th century farm about 20’ from each other. I am trying to date and identify them.

The two-piece but has a sort of feathering around the front.
The flat button is slightly concave and has some corrosion on it.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
mike

Mike, your first button looks to be a two-hole pants button c1870 - 80.

The second button is older, due to the back attachment.
Probably a shirt button, looks too small to be a coat button c1850 - 60. :icon_scratch:

Nice finds,
Dave
