Got out for about 3 hours this evening and found some more flat buttons etc. It is the same 2 home sites located just above a spring I found a couple of weeks ago but have not had a chance to hunt them much in the last week with this ole creeping crud of a cold I have had. And of coarse no coins. :icon_thumleft:

Bell locks 001.webp

These appear to be locks but no idea what they were used for. Very small.

Any idea on age?

A huge piece of pewter that I have no Idea what it was used for and a thick piece that almost looks like a slug.

This piece looks like it was part of a spoon or fork but has a rather crude design it.

And another whatsit. It appears to have been silver plated. Looks like it had teeth on it at one time.

That's all folks:hello:

The item with the chain is a cloak fastener. The two button eyelets were sewn to the fabric on one side of the cloak, and the chain attached to a hooked piece that was sewn onto the other side. GREAT finds!!

Cheers,

Buck

PS, the lock is a "mickey mouse" style lock, and it is 1700s time frame as I recall.

great find keep it up the old coin will roll up to the top

Appreciate the input BuckleBoy......Have found nothing at the site that appears to be later than the mid 1800's so far. I thought the locks honestly might have been late 1800's but had no clue. Can't find anything that really resembles either in my searches on google. They are much smaller than a regular padlock so wonder what they were used for.:dontknow:

Nice finds man.excellent

Nice assortment of finds!

Nice variety of great finds TNG. I'm sure glad BB knew the cloak fastener as I sure did not-LOL. WTG & keep at it!! HH, Quindy.

Nice hunt , very nice digs , yes BB id , mickey mouse locks , and cloak clasp :icon_thumright: pewter button may be a US Regt. piece .. carefully remove the crud with a Q tip and see if there is a regiment number 8-)

Really nice old site. Some old sites do not give coins as I think they were really poor and bartered often. But you are getting locks and such so I am betting you will find coins. Good luck Guns !

Nice digs. :icon_thumleft: Congrats on the buttons, lock and cloak fastener.

Yes they are much smaller. Hill Billy up in Kentucky dug one either last year or the year before, and that's extent of what we found out about them. Not sure what they were used for.

Best Wishes,

Buckles
