I've listed several $100-$300 items recently with buy-it-now or best offer.

In a couple of hours, I'll get an offer for about 40%-50% of my asking price, which is basically the top market price for whatever scarce collectible I am selling.

I figure it is probably a dealer as a true collector is not looking to blow their chance to get something they want by fiddling around low-balling.

Since it's an insultingly low offer, rather than respond I simply ignore it -- and that open offer seems to make the real collectors hit that buy-it-now button.

I listed something with a b-i-n of $250 last Sunday night, got an offer for $120 a few hours later, ignored it, then Monday morning when I checked my email that item was SOLD to someone else. Sweet. Especially since I only had $8 in it :)

I have done my share of buying on ebay to resell on ebay, but I've never just shot off low ball offers to other dealers in the hope I can dredge a deal up. It was a little irritating -- until I realized I could turn it to my profit.

Ha, there is always the lowball offers. I just bought one last night a lot of jewelry. Maybe 40 pieces altogether and it was auction of like 50 with buy it now if 90 and five dollar shipping. I needed to minutes to decide that it was well worth the $90 and I bought it didn't even consider trying to lowball it and bid and wait for the auction to end it was a good deal. And I'm going to resell it on eBay. at $90 I will make back over $450. 1 pieces will paid for what I paid for all of it. But when it comes to deals like those I don't see a point in trying to get lower. I want to make sure I get it !!!
