I went back to where I dug a Colt revolver a few weeks ago at a site near Shelbyville, TN and my first hole was an exploded shell. I hunted hard and found one flat button. I was about ready to give up when I decided I’d try to find the revolver’s cylinder and or barrel. I was digging only big iron with my Equinox 600 with the horseshoe icon off. I dug a lot of targets, some that would jump up to 18/25 on the Equinox 600. I got another iron signal, but this one had intermittent hits of up to 35 on the display. I dug 5 nails out of the hole and then I said to myself there’s nothing left but when I rescanned, I still got a strong iron signal. I put the pin pointer to the side of the hole and hit a target. I pulled at the dirt and a CSA was sitting on its side. I said WOW! I am very Blessed. This was my second Confederate plate in two weeks after searching for 23 years.

I dug a lot of targets, some that would jump up to 18/25 on the Equinox 600. I got another iron signal, but this one jumped up to 30 occasionally. I pulled at the dirt and a CSA was sitting on its side. I said WOW! After recovering the C.S.A. there was still an iron signal per the detector. I called my relic hunting partner over to see if he might uncover a second C.S.A. He stuck his pin pointer in the hole and a large 1800’s nail had been behind the plate. I am very Blessed. This was my second Confederate plate in two weeks after searching for 23 years.

Outstanding Civil War buckle. I would love to see that one up on the BANNER train. 👍
It is in fantastic condition too.
Congrats to you. It’s been waiting to see light for 160 years.

Congratulations on the great looking buckle.
Looking at some sites that offer this type up and the $ value is pretty impressive.
Certainly a top shelf recovery.
