Cache idea

Now I know most people here dream of finding a cash of coins, gold, silver, whatever, so the idea of burying caches instead of digging them up might have you scratching your head, but hear me out.
Think about it, if people keep finding caches, the majority of them will be gone in 50-100 years. I know there will always be some that won't be found, but why deprive future generations of them? This is my proposal. Once a year or so, when/if you go on vacation, or somewhere close by, bury a cache of coins. Make it something simple, like 20 dollars worth of coins. Go to the bank, get 5$ each of quarters, dimes, nickels, pennies. Thats over 600 coins, for 20$. Not a bad amount, for not much money. Plus, think about how happy you'll make someone in 50 years, or 100 years, or whenever it gets dug up. What do you guys think?

I think you should scatter around a few nice complicated treasure maps that lead to it, too. Like stuck in books in libraries, for instance.

Others have suggested including your name & contact info & a link to TN when burying a cache .
Maybe the future finder would contact you or post it on here . I like the idea if you're not afraid of
giving out contact info .

Nice thought, but stupid idea. Why should I bury all my money, and one month later another prospector is coming behind me and take all my money.

I agree with you. I think that's a great idea to leave behind a thrill for future generations to find. It doesn't even have to be money. It could be relics, or even a small time capsule. Thanks for the post.

This is what I do sometimes;
Often I find coins that are bent, corroded or just plain rusted. I put them in small jars and bury them in out of sight places where I detect.

After reading these lines I will start placing the junk rings, toy cars and other small stuff together with the coins.
I do put the stuff in glass jars.

I will start leaving these mini-caches more often too.

We really try to bury them pretty far in the boonies in undeveloped land or woods so that its somebody either way into the future or else a determined hunter that finds them.......
