Canadian Cent (or "penny") Question

I got a magnet to close to my box of Canadian coins and it stuck to the side! Upon further examination several of the cents stuck to the magnetic. Why is that?

They are copper plated steel since 2001ish. They are usually split half and half between the copper-plated steel and the copper plated zinc.
 
So in other words no big deal :-(
