California Beaches

Still doing my research on which detector to upgrade to. I was leaning towards the Tiger Shark since I would like to do more water detecting, but after doing some research and talking to Tesoro, they say that it may not do well on Southern CA beaches because of the mineralization in our soil/sand. I was ready to make the jump this week but now I'm having second thoughts.

I was also looking at the Tiger Shark, because although heavy, it can still handle grass/park detecting.

Which I could affort the Excalibur but it's out of my price range. 600.00 is my tops money wise.

Has anyone used the Tiger Shark here in So. Cal?

Or do you have any other machines you recommend I take a look at?

I bought my Excal on Ebay.( $480.00 ). I got a receipt from the guy, who is a Doctor from New York, for new battery and new refurbishment from the dealer in Las Vegas. I got a confirmation from the dealer to. This unit is as good as the new model being sold today. I also received a couple of books with it. I got a great deal. This Man was really terrific to deal with to. I've had no problems with it. Also try Craigslist.
Just have to keep your eyes open. Strike when the iron is hot!
I love my Excal... Z-Best. I had a JW Fisher Pulse 6 also....Too heavy out of the water.

I too got an Excalibur for under $600 on one of the forum classified sections. It worked great. The battery was one of the old NiCads so not knowing what shape they were in, I ordered the new NiMh from one of the online sites. It only took about 10' to swap them out. Nothing wrong with used. Just ask the seller to guarantee that it is in perfect working condition. Paying much less because someone else put the first scratch on the case is a good bargain.
