California gold rush era marble ???

I found this while detecting a steep hillside in Northern California gold country. I dont know much about old marbles but it seemed out of place. This was in very steep rugged terrain. Its not perfectly round at all. Maybe made of stone like agate?

That's a machine made glass marble, latter half of the 1900s. Maybe somebody's slingshot ammo.
