My beach has been a silver mine!
The gold is there. She’s just been super elusive a 2 1/2 hour hunt, with roughly 85 targets recovered about four or five targets, unable to recover!
On your best days, how many targets can you dig in an hour?

On my best day?....I've had beach situations where there were so many targets, that detecting and recovering them was happening every 30 seconds or so. So that's what....120 per hour? Not a common occurrence these days, but, it happens from time to time. Sure can wear you out though!

Would you agree that it’s pretty much impossible to get 200 targets in an hour?
Coin spills and cashes don’t count!

I've done it at a competition hunt in the dry sand, but, I doubt anyone could do it at a wild hunt or anywhere on turf.

Everyone take notice, do not invite him to hunt that secret honey hole of yours! He has arms and legs of steel and high endurance! He will shame you. LOL

I wish! :laughing7: Maybe when I was 18, not so much now that I'm in my 70's. I can still hold my own for the most part though....

Ok this is true.. seeded hunts definitely don’t count!
Digging, 100 coins (in the wild) in a hour hard to believe! Maybe in a blue moon.

Yall apparently hunt different beaches than I do. To include Al cans/pull tabs I’m lucky to get 5-10 hits in an hour. If I’m lucky 2-3 of them are coins/weights

…..and yes I count weights a a successful find.

You’re right January February and March are my favorite months to hunt. I go out when it’s blowing 20 to 30 miles an hour and the temperature is 20°. Why because the storm just came through and stripped all the sand off my beach I see patches of black I know I’m good to go. Always checking multiple locations. Things can change overnight windows and doors will open and they will get slam shut now that my kids are older. I’m able to get out hunting now

The last 5 years I doubt if I dig 10 to 15 targets a hunt, and that's 3 to 4 hours. Most places here have been closed since the late 60s so the amount of targets have been classified to the point they are far and few between. When I first started hunting the Chesapeake Bay there were a abundant amount of targets, but that has slowly faded since they are no longer active.

Water goes below 40 I stop until it warms.

Hi old beach nut. I think I saw you on the news a few years back 😂👍🏻glad to hear you’re well!!
I’m back hunting again. It’s been a few years, but I got the fever again and the kids are old enough to take care of themselves. If not, they want to go hunting with me which is great. Also, I just wanted to say thank you for your many years of great advice. Cheers, mate.

If you live there you have that option…..if you visit a week during the summer not so much.

We have the same situation here after hurricanes, but when not retired or living at “x” location you don’t have access or time.

Summertime the sand comes in. You’re looking at fresh drops. Nothing old mostly new and junk but in the winter time all the pull tabs and bottle tops have been blown away. I’m looking at three different colored sands when I hit the bottom scoop. Having the option is the best option God bless!!

Yup, maybe once every few years you might get conditions like that.

At about $1lb here locally, yes, lead weights count in my book too!

We said in the past that it only takes 1 second to loose a gold ring but 11 seconds to retrieve one. It is not the number you can dig, it is the number that you can be detect. I've seen 40 coins in one scoop, abet it was a roll of quarters, still memorable. I have had 4 gold rings in one scoop and 1 more in the next. In one week I had dug over 1600 coins from one park, in Iceland! Those were the days....

Do you remember when we first met?
In Onset, I’m grateful for all the seeded hunting advice you gave me helped make for a an awesome day!!
I can’t remember how many coins I found that day, but it was quite a lot. I think it was about $75 worth and of course the two poker chips.😎

Yes, memories! I must admit I have slowed down, not because of health (78 in May), but comfort. The past couple of months...cold temp, rain, heavy coatings of sand on the beaches, and of course lack of targets. I did get out for a lost ring that was lost in a house many miles away from the sledding slope I searched. Also two different hearing aids. Both found and returned. The second one was my 200th return since joining TheRingFinder.com. I enjoyed reading of your finds this winter...they keep my interest up, way up. Thanks
