✅ SOLVED Calling on the relic Gods - Another mystery item

I dug this brass whats-it this week at an 1870's house in town.
It looks like it may have had a handle attached at one time but I'm not sure?
It is bowl shaped like a spoon.
Any ideas?

Interesting item...

The crimped end was made to secure a wooden handle of some type, but I doubt it being a spoon. Maybe a type of kitchen tool?

It looks to me to be similar to ferrier tools (used to care for horses’ teeth and hooves).

That style of crimp is also common on electrical connectors, but I can't imagine what that spoon shape might connect to, or how, considering there is no center hole for a terminal.
