Two of these iron items were found on a Island with a logging and farming history. The sharp end of the item has a hole a few inches behind it. And it seems the other end had a trigger. The item is approximately 4' long. I wonder with two of these items being found perhaps both were needed to serve its purpose? Any help would be appreciated.

need better pics, to much clutter
place the item on a sheet of some kind
show different sides, maybe some close-ups
measurements?
area found?
Maybe its a tool to stick in the ground to feed logs thru, to secure the log to cut logs to length>
does it look like the loop can be expanded?
it looks like it a mechanically operated divice
IMO

Looks like an old bumper jack but it is hard to tell because of the picture. A close up? By itself?

Spelled the maker incorrectly - should be Nellis. Made in the 1890's I believe.
