I think I remember that just Japan predates the war. After the war it would have "Made In Occupied Japan" Then later "Made In Japan". But I'm no expert.

They don't appear Indian to me. Made for export.

Can't quite put my finger on it.
Maybe a cross between Al Roker and Yoda?

The pup is a Griswald or Griswold type cast iron guy. There are some copies out there. That company made the famous skillets that are so collectable. He's a good looking pup. Ima

I have read that versions were of the pup were made in different metals and with advertising names on their backs or rears. How tall is the dog? That's supposed to be important. I know some people who have some of these. It's hard to tell who made them, a lot of stories out there. But they are all so cute, I personally wouldn't care if it was the oldest one made, if I had one. Ima

Some are supposed to be 1 5/8, some are 2 inches. I wonder if the black of the cast iron has been polished off, that would make him shine. Good luck finding 1 little two little 3 little Indians ID. Ima

Good answer and a correct one. These little "paperweights" are advertised as Hubley's, Griswold's and Hines. They look like they were modeled after the Hubley Fido bank. Check out this site that shows a bunch of them. One thing is, they are all 1 5/8" and the "big dog" is the 2" one. Litter Of Pups

This site is more detailed showing advertising of all different kinds on the backs of them.
