mexican wedding coins, sometimes they are made of gold, but you'd need to investigate further

thanks goldencoin.....being that this is southern CA it shouldn't be to hard to find some answers! they actually look silverish compared to other random stuff ive found in CWR dimes....who knows!

hope it's silver for ya, it doesn't look gold, and why would someone plate a gold coin silver? :dontknow:

Cool find though.

If I found this, and it was silver, I'd melt it down. Nothing reminds me like a good religious icon burning like a mexican religious token burning...or al-Qur’ān burning. Either one gives me an excuse to buy a nice hot torch. Although, the religious token also gives me an excuse to buy the crucible and mold. Either way, bullion is bullion, right?

More importantly and seriously, just like the trouble you are having trying to figure out the metal content, anyone you gave it to would have the same problems. It isn’t like an ASE where it is stamped by a government agency for content and commonly recognized. To me, it would be worthless as silver because of that lack of information. If armageddon were to come and I’m left on earth with all but 144,000 of you people, I would not accept this for payment in lieu of a .900 US Silver dime just because it is the same size and you say it is silver.
