Only way to really tell is to take the handle apart.Its most likely japanese army issue.Genuine katanas,the sword makers name was on the handle along with the tameshigiri meaning body cutting,test cutting.
 

I'm sorry to tell you that is a cheap Chinese knock off.
 

It appears to be a Chinese copy of a Shingunto...
 

Can't see the whole thing, but as far as I know, only the naval swords have the catch to keep it in the scabbard. Iron tsuba, leather wrapped scabbard, without knowing the maker all I see is 5 to 7 hundred.
