CAN THIS BUTTON BE DATED IN THE LATE 18TH CENTURY???

This button came from a site that has two occupation periods (1) 1779-1805 (2) 1816-1876. It is a flat button with a noticeable mold seam on the back, in line with the shrank. Which occupation period does this button most likely belong to, 1 or 2? Tx Frank

I never could find a Best without Quality or Treble or Gilt. I've found them myself. Frustrating.

However I have found reference to flats being plain before 1800. The engravings started at that time still leaving you with no answer to occupation.

Beginning of the 19th century, after which technology changed and EVERYBODY backmarked their buttons.
