Beautiful pic Terry, as I love those multiple-hilltop shots with the fading light. I take it
the sky was a bit hazy?

Here's a panorama shot I took several years back of a late Sept. sunrise. Shot it from
a higher vantage point so the fog would be below me, and waited til' just the right second
to snap the shutter.

Probably best viewed if you open the pic, and then click again to see it framed in the
image window.

Wow! Great Shot!!!! Yes, a lot of dust in the air where the desert rises up to meet the Colorado Plateau at the Date Creek, Weaver, and Bradshaw Mountains. This was just one of a series of pictures I took one evening from Yarnell Hill, in the Weaver Mountains of Central Arizona, about two-hours northwest of Phoenix. Here is a video slideshow of some of the others. You can see very well how light is all important in photography. The first 1:40 of the slideshow shows the flat dusky light just prior to sunset, and then the soft pastels of the sunset itself, with the mountains in relief. I hope you enjoy it!

Nice video Terry! Have you considered using a neutral density filter, or a CPL?

Don't know what gear you're using, but for the sunset shots the ND (and graduated ND)
filters are a godsend!

Shot this one about a block from home:

Only problem with Circular Polarized Filters (CPL) is that they can cause a "dip" to appear
when using very wide angle lenses. If you use one under about 30mm it can do that, but
at 30mm and above (smaller aperture) the "dip" goes away. The above was taken with a
#8 ND filter.

Here is another image of "Valley of the Shadows", along with the poem by Edgar Allen Poe which
details the story behind the "Land of El Dorado"..

The Land of El Dorado

El Dorado

Gaily bedight
A gallant knight
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of El Dorado.

But he grew old --
This knight so bold --
And -- o'er his heart a shadow
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like El Dorado.

And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow --
"Shadow," said he,
"Where can it be --
This land of El Dorado?"

"Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,"
The shade replied --
"If you seek for El Dorado."

- Edgar Allan Poe

Wow, now this is cool. A treasure site that caters to photography as well, my 2 favorite things to do. Metal detecting and photography.

Wow Mike, you are speaking a completely different language buddy! I'm lucky to remember to take the lens cap off!
