I found this point at a small river in NW Missouri. I am pretty sure it is made from burlington chert but I have no idea what type of point it is or its approximate age. If anyone has any info or a link that I could use to identify it I would appreciate it. Thanks, Charlie

No replies so I thought I would bump it to the top and try again :)

If schlooppy is lurking around,he can probably id it for you.

Must have missed this post. I would call it a stemmed point from either the late archaic phase, or woodland. jmo!

Are the sides of the stem ground? If so, could be Tablerock, if not..most likely Munkers Creek.

From Missouri? I think its a Godar. I'm blanking on the time period though. Hope this helps, Razor

On second thought, there is no notching at the base so it's probably not a Godar. I'd listen to Matt or Badandy. Razor

Thank you all, I guess I will just keep searching. I just find it hard to believe that I can't find anything definitive about it. Is there a catagory for anomily or random unclassified points?

A very high percentage of what we find cannot be definately classified in alot of circumstances. It's alot easier when you find them in direct association with a particular culture or type.
