Hi. :headbang:. I have had these for 15 years. I found them on my way home from Lake Tahoe, CA. All my friends think i should throw them in the yard because they are "just rocks", but i dont care. I think they are awesome. Some have a pink tint and some have a purple tint. Not sure if my camera captured that. A few are full of what looks like gold flakes. I know nothing about these and have always been curious. I have around 50 different ones. Please tell me what you know about these. Thank you. Michelle :headbang:

not particularly though Gold does come in Quartz at times.
and if the gold flakes are Real gold, they are collectable by some.
Of course valuable if there is a decent amount in them.

it would take someone who knows to look at them in person though

Pretty sure they are quartz and it does come in all the colors you mentioned the gold flakes are more than likely pyrite although they could be gold.If you Google pyrite in quartz you can see examples.I am a rock collector myself my wife is like what the heck but I like cool looking rocks also you aren't alone.ROCK ON.:laughing7:

They are quartz and they are from a gold producing area, so quite possibly they do contain gold. If you take a magnifying glass and look at the gold you can usually tell. Fool's gold (pyrite) will have small cubic crystals, gold will not. Good looking rocks though. I would have picked them up too...

I am no expert on gold, but I have seen gold grow on different types of rocks. If you have a detector which can pick up gold you should definitely check.

Quartz. After you solve the gold question, sort them into 'house rocks', or 'garden rocks'. Put some on your window sills and let the sun shine thru them. Pink = rose quartz, purple= amethyst. Look for any with crystals with points sticking out. Enjoy them. Rocks are fun.
