Can your metal detector do this?

I would rather it performs well as opposed to being resistant to being run over.

I have never asked a manufacturer or dealer. "Yes, but can you run it over with a truck?"

But, I have asked about what happens of the control box gets wet.

Try running over the coil...where the actual electronics of the metal detector are and see how well it works after that.
