Hello to all. I'm new here and thought maybe some "fellow fossil hounds" would like to see a few museum quality specimens from The Great White North!...Well, not that far north (just the other side of The Great Lakes).
Really have enjoyed reading and viewing all your posts and pictures. :)
Thanks
Now, let's see if I can put some photos up!...Still a Neanderthal when it comes to computers! Ha! :)
This SeaLilly and Trilobite are dated approx. 430-million years old (Silurian Age).)

Cool Finds! Very nice Examples, and excellent additions to anyones collections! The sealilly or cronoid stem and flower is a very fine example. I am puzzled on your other item, but it looks like the top layer or cover has eroded away. Have you determined what it was?

Thanks old digger, in the other two pics is a 'complete' Trilobite. There is no erosion..when I split the stone with a quarry chisel & hammer ..'there it was'. So you have an 'A' and 'B' side stone layer..the other side (B) (not shown)of the fossil is exactly the same only 'concaved'.
The trilobite lived worldwide on the floor of the sea-bottom. Supposedly, there was no land, just ocean covering our world at that time. The trilobite is the most successful, longest living animal ever to live on our planet, spanning hundreds of millions of years before finally going extinct.

I agree with you, but it just looks like it is missing the head covering. Maybe it is just upsidedown in the top or negative piece. :icon_scratch:

Pics are rightside up old digger :) Head, Thorax and Tail (from top to bottom) If you look close his eyes are two faintly protruding bumps at the lower part of both sides of its head..wondering if you may be referring to pics of younger trilobites (Morocco specimens, Etc.) that are much more detailed in photo's that have a soft matrix which can be grinded, drilled and cleaned with a Dremel tool...all my collection is exactly as they are from the layers and since they've see the light of day ;) that have been museum dated at 430-million years..at their youngest!

I don't think I have seen that type of trilobite, but it sure is unique looking. Thats for sharing! I looks like you have a very nice collection.

Hey old digger,Thanks, just glad to share 'a few specimens'...of an entire ecosystem that even "The Experts" haven't been able to put all the pieces together yet! ;)
Take Care.

These guys (trilobites)..old digger, I call 'Armored' because that is what their exoskeleton reminds me of (for defensive purposes).
