Cheers,

I have had this cannonball for about 35 years. I found it in my parents’s backyard, as it had been buried for years. I spoke to a collector that had a shop about 20 years ago, and he thinks it had fallen off a train that had backed on to my parents’ yard. I’d like to think it had to do with the Riel Rebellion of 1885. Western Canada, Saskatoon , Saskatchewan. It’s diameter measured just under 5 inches, and further investigation gave it a weight of 18 pounds.

If anyone has any thoughts, I’d like to hear your thoughts.

Welcome to the forum from Port Allegheny, Pennsylvania

Welcome. That sounds likely. It does look like a 19th century ball. Cool.
