Can't understand how to use notch on Golden Sabre2

I can't set the notch to accept nickels and reject pull tabs on the Golden Sabre2 I acquired from Ebay. I had the original (metal box) Golden Sabre but the notch was much easier to set. I did very well with nickels and silver with the original GS. Thanks in advance for your advice. Respectfully, Don
