Not much in the way of searching for meteorites in the carolinas. The forest and changing landscape tend to be a hinderance. Good places for example are in the AZ deserts where the landscape pretty much stays the same. No vegetation to get in the way.
Open fields are the best we can do around here. Definately a needle in a hey stack.
Out west, they can still see creater impacts and will search downrange to find fragments. Maybe some colored topo maps of different areas would lend a clue to some possible impact sites from long ago.
